Project
The Sunlit Studio

Year
2025

This assignment challenged me to transform the open plan multipurpose room in my university building into a co-working office.

The office creates a ‘get away’ from the bustling city of Barcelona for a capacity of 20 people. It centres on a ceiling opening that creates a patio, seamlessly blending interior and exterior. Users can step outside to enjoy the sun or remain in the workspace with tranquil views of nature. Inspired by Peter Zumthor, the design emphasises atmosphere through light, materiality, and biophilia to foster a serene, focus-driven environment.

This office is truly unique in its ability to cater to a diverse range of needs, seamlessly adapting to different work styles and preferences. Whether employees prefer to work while standing or sitting, indoors or outdoors, individually or collaboratively, the space accommodates every choice effortlessly.

The central patio is planted with drought-resistant greenery that thrives with minimal care. It provides a natural screen, with heights carefully arranged to create some smaller sections, breaking up the space and enhancing the overall experience.
